PETS PORTRAITS
REPLACE YOUR PORTRAITS OF YOUR ANCESTORS WITH PORTRAITS OF YOUR PETS, A CONCEPT OF INTEREST, ISN’T IT ?
A long-time dog owner, I have always drawn them, thus of course I find a gallery of dog or cat portraits much more fun than a gallery of somber and dour-looking ancestors.
So I put my grandfathers and grandmothers in the flood-prone cellar to make room in the places of honor for my canines.
During a visit with a Japanese department store manager, wildly enthusiastic about these drawings, it was decided that I would come to Japan for a week to draw the dogs of our friends from the land of the rising sun.
Bingo! Since then I have been going there every year, first to the French Fair of Hankyu in Osaka, then to dog bars in Tokyo, which Japanese dogs absolutely love, needless to say……
But French dogs come first. I draw those around me, and those whose owners want an everlasting memory of their companion.
Forever-attached to French cultural and decorative heritage, I add, in the style of what our ancestors wore, a collar, laundress or scarf to the necks of our animal friends.
In practice, this means
My portraits are created with lead pencil on beautiful recycled paper, always mindful of the planet.
I normally avoid using eraser because every line gives life to the image. If I have to use it, I use a big makeup brush to wipe away the residue in order not to cause smudges... Smudges mean doing the job over!
Once the image is finished, I spray on a high quality "fixative" that makes the drawing eternal.
I work from the photo you upload after ordering. Give me a week to draw it.
Lastly, I deliver your portrait framed in a white 30 X 40 cm frame decorated with a double passe-partout: one is white, the other is a drawing that I created with a pen "Parisian dogs" which will be predominantly red, yellow, blue, grey or pink, according to your choice.
I also offer large format portraits, 90 x 120 cm, unframed and sent in a roll tube. Framing options are available, should you wish.
