THE CREATION OF A DESIGN

I draw with very fine graphite, from a photo. First I draw the main lines of the head, followed by placement of the nose, eyes and ears. Then I start drawing with details, shadows, hair.

The care given to the drawing of the eyes and to the animal’s gaze is essential to giving life to the subject.

I don't use eraser much, because I believe that each line is important to giving life to the image, even if it looks « wrong ». If I have to use it, I use a big makeup brush to wipe away the residue in order not to cause smudges... smudges mean doing the job over!

Once the image is finished, I spray on a high quality "fixative" that makes the drawing eternal.

I dress the animals very discreetly in outfits from different periods of French history. If you like, however, I can leave them « naked ».
